MoogfestOctober 26-28, 2012
Moogfest is the annual event honoring the remarkable vision of Robert Moog and his amazing musical inventions that changed the course of music. During the festival, Moogfest hosts artists and audiences from throughout the world, featuring more than 60 electronic music acts, workshops, panels, films and more.

While the wide range of Moog instruments – the Minimoog Voyager, the Little Phatty, the Etherwave Theremin, Moogerfoogers, and the new Moog Guitar – will play prominent roles throughout the festival’s events, the artists performing will certainly not be limited to those who create their work on Moog instruments. Instead, artists will be chosen for their role in creating unique and groundbreaking musical experiences that embody the essence of Bob Moog’s visionary and creative spirit.

In addition to fantastic concerts by renowned performers of all kinds, Moogfest will also offer opportunities to engage with the artists in panel discussions, question and answer sessions, and workshops. There will also be interactive experiences for the audience to explore their own musical creativity with a variety of Moog instruments. The festival will also offer visual art exhibitions, installations, and film screenings throughout the weekend.

Tickets are available online via Ticketmaster through the Moogfest web site, as well as through the Asheville Civic Center Box Office. The ACC box office is located at 87 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801 and is open weekdays from 10:00AM – 5:00PM Eastern. You may purchase tickets via phone by calling (800) 745-3000.

About Robert Moog
When Bob Moog invented the Moog synthesizer in 1964 he revolutionized popular music. His creations touched thousands of lives as synthesizers gained acceptance in the music world and became the catalyst for new forms of sonic expression. Genre-definers like The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd, Parliament & Funkadelic and Kraftwerk used Moog synthesizers to create the soundtrack to the second half of the 20th Century. Today, over 50 years later, Moog instruments help create the sound of the new millennium in the hands of innovative artists like Daft Punk, MGMT, Gorillaz, Radiohead, and U2 to name a few. Moog has become an icon for his unique combination of technical brilliance, creative curiosity, and generosity of spirit. Though he has left us, his enormous legacy still resonates, having irreversibly changed the sonic landscape of the world. Quite simply, modern music would not be the same without Bob Moog.

Although he passed away in 2005, Moog’s spirit lives on with Moog Music, a company he originally formed in 1954 under the name R.A. Moog (the name changed in 1972). Moog Music is still producing technologically groundbreaking instruments that help create music that could not otherwise exist without them, making instruments so unique that they represent a genre of their own: Moog Music. Located in Asheville, where Bob Moog spent much of his later life, Moog Music continues to be the leading producer of synthesizers, analog musical instruments and effects pedals. Moog’s push for innovation permeates the entire culture of Moog Music: in 2008 the company produced the Moog Guitar, garnering several industry awards from top publications like Guitar Player and Popular Science. More importantly, it has inspired players to reach additional creative heights and opened the door to new forms of expression with a stringed instrument.
